Sam @ Parenthetical

I was just having a conversation the other day about how interesting it would be to have an Age-Related Disease Novel in which all the kids were diseased cannibals and then grew out of it when they hit adulthood. So the parents needed to keep them safe and alive, but also not get eaten in the process.

This would possibly not be a YA novel.

Sam I like that in The Enemy we don't know whether that plague is a one-time thing, or if the children will catch it when they turn 16 or whatever. I like that we don't know the origins of the plague. It's a good first book, simply presenting the situation / the world, and outlining the strategies for survival in it. It goes along with the 'what the eff is happening?' theme that is so strong in adolescence! :)

I could definitely see your book turning that table, written from the point of view of the parent. Would be an EXCELLENT dark comedy... like Fido or something, but would also be a great Margaret Atwood-y drama. Hmm!

It seems I've found another great book...sounds very encouraging...I'll try to have a look of it. Keep it up...
